Our mission is to give guidance and instruction that lead to entrance in the professional fields of art education and studio art. Also to provide the students with programs of study, which develop skills and that promote professional values for career preparation.
This is accomplished through the meeting of skill development in typography, digital and non-digital imagery with creative ideas for the design and production of attractive and effective communications. Students learn color theory, pre-press operations and print production, advanced imaging techniques using digital cameras, scanners and Adobe software (Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign).
Photoshop
Students will be introduced to Adobe Photoshop, is the industry-standard image editing software, used by professional photographers, amateur photographers, and designers who want to perfect their digital images. Students will learn basic of bitmap images and computer color, as well as basic setting of Photoshop's tools and palettes. Student will learn the guidelines for processing images from a digital camera and the basics of image editing and working with layers and special effects.
Illustrator
Students will be introduced to Adobe Illustrator, the industry-standard vector graphics software, used by designers of all types who want to create digital graphics, illustrations, and typography for all kinds of media: print, web, interactive, video, and mobile.
Vector graphics are one of the two most commonly used graphic formats in design, the other being bitmap (or raster) graphics. Vector graphics, like those created with Illustrator CS6, are "resolution independent," which means they can be resized infinitely with no loss of quality. For example, the same logo design created with Illustrator can be used on a business card or an outdoor billboard, maintaining the accuracy and detail of the original design. (Adobe.com)
AfterEffects
Students will be introduced to Adobe After effects for animation, effects, and compositing.
We will introduce the six foundations of After Effects, which include concepts like layers, keyframes, rendering, and moving in 3D space. Students will build compositions with layers, animate your composition with keyframes, add effects and transitions, and render and export the finished piece.

Types of Assessments
Observation/evaluation using Rubrics
Rubrics enables faculty to isolate and describe the primary traits of high level art productions and to use the numeric scale based upon that rubric to evaluate student work against an objective model. It is superior to class grades as an assessment tool in that it assesses student work against an objective external standard rather than a relative standard based upon the requirements of the class project or learning level of the student (class grades). This rubric is used consistently as a classroom tool for evaluation of individual projects, as a benchmark for the evaluation of growth within a particular class, and as an assessment tool at the senior portfolio review.
